Black basics

Quick makes! Here are some sweatpants and sweat-shorts made from my trusty self-drafted pants pattern. Not much to say about construction, they’re pull-on and dartless as all sweats should be.

I did have some issues with my machine stretching out the fabric and the ribbing. It’s not noticeable but I don’t like how the ribbed cuffs are loose and ride up my calves when I’m in bed, or how the elastic waistband sits slightly too loose and therefore too low. Strangely, the shorts fit snugger and better. I had the foresight to install these eyelets for a drawstring in the event of the elastic wearing out but I did not have the foresight to make sure the cord I bought was the correct width. Or course it’s not. It’s too thick. Gah!

Next, this mock turtleneck tee. It was very important to me that I make this as easy on myself as possible, which is why the front and back pieces are exactly the same. There’s no neckband, the neckline is just raised from the bodice.

In photos it looks pretty... wrinkly but it’s not as visible in-person because it’s black. Like this lower-lit photo. I’m not sure I’m going to wear this specific shirt because it’s a little tight for my preference. I wanted something fitted but not this degree of body-hugging. Time to redraw the pattern for next time.

Closing out the post, a mesh tee that I made on a whim, regularly wore for one or two years, and then completely forgot about until now. It, uh... It sure is a t-shirt!
